After an 18-year career in the field of education, Sharon transitioned into a more focused way of helping young people and their families. Previously, she was a distinguished teacher that has taught in public, private, home-school, and special-needs environments. Additionally, she spent several years as a counselor and teacher at a school with learning differences such as visual, verbal, and auditory processing issues, ADHD, high-functioning autism, and emotional dysregulation. As a teacher, she came to know that there was a range of contributing factors to successfully educating a child - some within the classroom environment itself, but others outside of that.
This personal interest led her to transition into the field of psychology where she could study and eventually help not only the youth that she was working with, but also the parents and families that brought these kids into her classroom. This desire became the catalyst for her own psychological services practice.
In May 2011, she received her Master's Degree in Psychology from Divine Mercy University (formerly Institute for Psychological Sciences) in Sterling, VA. She has worked at the House of Hope of NC with adolescent girls and at The Trilogy School with students ages 7-18 who struggle with various emotional and learning issues. Since 2015, Sharon has operated her own private practice in the Raleigh area serving adults, kids, and teens. Her greatest reward is graduating clients and seeing the healing that takes place in their families and lives along the way.
