Before Sharon transitioned into the field of psychology and counseling, she had been a distinguished educator with experience teaching all grades in public, private, home-school, and special needs environments. When Sharon was not teaching, she spent some of her free time mentoring women one-on-one. After so many years and experiences with families and students in the school setting coupled with her love of mentoring women, Sharon was led to move away from her role as educator and begin her pursuit of a counseling career. In 2009, she left the education field to pursue her master’s degree in psychology.
In May 2011, she received her master’s degree in psychology from Divine Mercy University (formerly known as the Institute for Psychological Sciences) in Sterling, VA. She has worked at the House of Hope of NC with adolescent girls and their parents, and at The Trilogy School with students ages 7-18 who struggle with various emotional and learning issues. Since 2015, Sharon has operated her own private practice in the Raleigh area. Additionally, Sharon has pursued specialized training for PTSD and complex trauma, particularly for adults. In 2024, after nearly a decade of psychological counseling work serving all ages of clientele, including kids, teens, and adults, Sharon now dedicates all of her clinical time to working with adults aged 18 and above who struggle with the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, or autism.
Sharon has been married since 1994 to her husband, Tim. She continues to enjoy mentoring women one-on-one in her free time as well as taking walks, reading, and having coffee with friends.
